BLACKPINK Revolutionizes Entertainment with Historic First Virtual Reality Concert Experience
After a whirlwind journey of 66 concerts across 22 cities, BLACKPINK, the sensational Korean girl group, wrapped up their Born Pink tour on September 17, 2023, in Seoul, South Korea. Now, they’re offering fans a chance to relive the concert in an entirely new way – through an exclusive VR experience. On December 26, devoted Blinks (BLACKPINK’s dedicated fanbase) will be treated to “BLACKPINK: A VR Encore” concert on Meta Horizon Worlds, a virtual reality platform.
This 70-minute spectacle mirrors the grand finale of the Born Pink tour held at Seoul’s iconic Gocheok Sky Dome, providing an up-close, front-row experience. The Diamond Bros, an Emmy Award-winning production company, meticulously captured and designed this online concert specifically for the VR realm.
Circle December 26 on your calendar for the premiere, set at 5 p.m. PT (December 27, 10:00 a.m. Korean Standard Time, 6:30 a.m. Indian Standard Time) on Meta Horizon Worlds. RSVPs are now open, and attendees will have the luxury of enjoying replays for an entire month on the platform.
Accessible to those aged 13+ in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, and Iceland, and to those 18+ in France and Spain, Meta Horizon Worlds relies on Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro VR headsets. BLACKPINK unveiled the trailer for this VR concert on November 16, just two months after the Born Pink finale in Seoul.
In a statement expressing their excitement for this pioneering venture into VR, BLACKPINK shared, “We’re beyond excited to dive into the dynamic world of VR, allowing us to connect with an even wider audience and share our music in an incredibly immersive way.
This VR concert is more than just a performance; it’s an extension of the heartfelt tour we poured our souls into. We can’t wait for you to experience the magic we’ve crafted alongside The Diamond Bros and Meta. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible BLINKs for their unwavering support.”
Vishal Shah, VP of Metaverse at Meta, highlighted the transformative nature of VR concerts, stating, “Artists like BLACKPINK are reshaping how music aficionados engage with live performances and connect with their favorite artists. We’re thrilled to showcase this creative and communal VR experience by The Diamond Bros in Horizon Worlds, and we’re eager for Meta Quest owners to grab the front-row seats for this extraordinary show.”
